Mitchell Presser was quoted in The American Lawyer's Deal Watch column about the Global PE Trends Report.
“We expect continued uncertainty in the market this year,” Mitchell Presser, private equity partner and co-chair of the firm’s food and agriculture practice, said in a statement accompanying the study. “However, with dry powder ready to deploy, private equity investors will continue to prioritize quality acquisitions while protecting against downside risk by utilizing more structure, targeting distressed assets, and turning to club and syndicate deals.”
The reporter noted that "The Morrison & Foerster report suggests that private equity firms may continue to invest in technology and that they will see opportunities in distressed situations. But issues such as the increased complexity of ESG regulations in the United States and Europe could cause some headwinds, and while debt market conditions are likely to improve through the course of the year, they still won’t be optimal for private equity investment, according to the report."
