Morrison & Foerster represented FoodChain ID and Paine Schwartz Partners, a global leader in sustainable food chain investing, in connection with the sale of FoodChain ID, a market leading platform dedicated to providing a holistic suite of technology-enabled food safety, quality, and sustainability solutions, to Berkshire Partners, a private equity firm. The transaction completed on December 8, 2020.
Marking its flagship investment in the fast growing, food safety space, Paine Schwartz Partners initially invested in FoodChain ID in September 2016. FoodChain ID now boasts a proprietary database that includes more than 100,000 mapped products and ingredients across the value chain, more than 100,000 regulatory references across 218 countries and 2.5 million pages of daily global regulatory notifications, scientific opinions and product recalls across 40 languages.
The MoFo deal team was led by New York Global Corporate Department co-chair and partner Mitchell Presser and New York Corporate partner Omar Pringle and San Francisco Executive Compensation partner Amanda Hines Gold.
