Morrison Foerster has been named as a winner in six categories at the 19th annual Managing IP Americas Awards. The awards identify leading law firms and practitioners through a combination of market research and firm submissions. The awards highlight industry leaders who provide counsel on some of the most complex IP law matters.
Morrison Foerster was awarded:
In addition to recognition received for the group, Joe Gratz, a partner in MoFo’s global IP Litigation Group, was named US Litigator of the Year – California, while Catherine Polizzi, a partner in MoFo’s Patent Strategy + Prosecution Group, was named US Practitioner of the Year (Patent Prosecution). Clients turn to Joe Gratz to handle trailblazing litigation where copyright and trademark law meet new technologies. An experienced litigator, Joe draws on his strong technical background to distill complex issues into simple, accurate concepts for judges, juries, and clients. Catherine Polizzi helps emerging and established companies through the challenging process of obtaining patents, and provides strategic, effective portfolio counseling and management, as well as strategic advice surrounding freedom of operation and other forms of IP assessment.
The YYGM SA v. Redbubble case, which was named as one of Managing IP’s Impact Cases of the Year, was led by Allyson Bennett and Joe Gratz, with support from patent litigation associate Matthaeus Martino-Weinhardt, appellate associate Alexandra Avvocato, and co-counsel Coastside Legal.
The firm was also shortlisted and named a finalist in numerous other categories at the Managing IP Awards, reflecting the breadth of the firm’s IP offering. This included being shortlisted in the U.S. Firm of the Year – Appellate and U.S. Firm of the Year – Trade Secrets categories. Additionally, partners Deanne Maynard and Mark Whitaker were shortlisted in the U.S. Practitioner of the Year (Appellate) and U.S. Litigator of the Year (DC Metro Area) categories, respectively.
Morrison Foerster’s Intellectual Property practice is the work of an interdepartmental group of lawyers focusing on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition, technology transactions, licensing, and related intellectual property matters. The firm has one of the largest intellectual property practices of any general practice firm—with more than 300 lawyers stationed in major financial centers in the United States, Asia, and Europe—and represents the most innovative companies and recognizable brands in the world.
The Managing IP recognition is among a number of recent honors received by MoFo and the IP Group, including recently being named the Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year by Chambers USA.
Winners were honored at the Managing IP Americas Awards 2024 ceremony on April 25, 2024.
