Dr. Aaron Bray focuses his practice on intellectual property with an emphasis on patent litigation. He works with clients who design and manufacture a variety of sophisticated technologies, including programmable logic devices, database and enterprise analytics software, cloud computing and virtualization software, medical devices, and haptics.
Aaron’s litigation experience at Morrison & Foerster has included pre-filing investigations, pleading drafting, motion practice, hearing and deposition preparation, fact and expert discovery, and case strategy development. He also has experience with specialized patent-related proceedings such as Markman hearings and invalidity contentions.
Aaron maintains an active public interest practice. He was part of the MoFo pro bono trial team that led a federal court to order U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to overhaul how the agency detains individuals in its custody in the Tucson Sector in Arizona. Aaron has also assisted clients seeking asylum and DACA renewal.
Aaron holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School where he received several prizes for outstanding performance. While at Stanford, Aaron assisted with the representation of lawful permanent residents in removal proceedings on aggravated felony and CIMT charges as a member of the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, helping to draft Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals, and Ninth Circuit briefs.
Aaron received his Ph.D. in astronomy and astrophysics from Harvard University, where his research focused on galaxy formation and evolution. He is an author of scientific publications in The Astrophysical Journal and Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. Previously at Yale, Aaron earned a B.S., cum laude, in astronomy and physics, with departmental honors.
