Brussels (March 19, 2025) – Morrison Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce the arrival of Jan Lang, who joins the firm as partner within the firm’s European Competition Practice and Global Antitrust Law Practice Group. Lang arrives at Morrison Foerster with a decade of experience, adding strength and depth to the firm’s global antitrust and competition capabilities.
Lang joins Morrison Foerster from a major U.S.-headquartered law firm, where he practiced in the firm’s competition group, based in Brussels. Prior to that, he practiced at a major European firm. Lang’s arrival follows the recent addition of Alexander Israel as partner, chair of the European Competition Practice, and co-office managing partner of the firm’s Brussels office in February 2025.
Lang brings a broad antitrust and competition practice to Morrison Foerster, with a particular focus on merger control proceedings, international cartel investigations, and abuse of dominance cases. He advises global companies on competition law and regulatory matters, leading on mandates across the entire antitrust and competition landscape, from advising on preventative compliance measures and mechanisms, to representing clients before the European Commission, German Federal Cartel Office, and German Courts.
“It is fantastic to see another Brussels-based arrival to our global competition and antitrust practice this year,” said Alexander Okuliar, co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s Global Antitrust Law Practice Group. “Jan’s addition, following Alexander Israel’s arrival last month, really strengthens our competition offering across Europe. The strength and depth of our competition capabilities in Brussels are a critical component of our global antitrust practice, playing a crucial role in both global antitrust investigations and complex cross-border M&A mandates. We are pleased to welcome Jan to the firm.”
“I am joining Morrison Foerster’s Antitrust Group at a busy and interesting time, as U.S., EU, UK, and other global regulators are increasing their competition enforcement activities, particularly against companies operating in the technology industry. Morrison Foerster has an excellent reputation for global antitrust advisory work, from playing a crucial role on complex cross-border M&A, to investigations, regulatory, and litigation counsel. I am looking forward to reconnecting with Alexander Israel and growing our Brussels and European competition practice alongside colleagues from across Morrison Foerster’s global network,” said Lang.
Lang joins Morrison Foerster with a German law degree from the University of Bayreuth and is admitted to practice in Germany and also member of the Brussels bar. He has previously contributed, as national expert for Germany, to a report prepared for the European Commission on the evaluation of Regulation 1/2003, the current framework for the application of the European Union’s competition regulations.
Other recent growth within Morrison Foerster’s Global Antitrust Practice Group includes Kerry C. Jones (Washington, D.C.) and Yoshiya Usami (Tokyo) being promoted to partner in January 2025, and Rob Manoso and Joseph Charles Folio (both Washington, D.C.) being promoted to partner in 2024, as well as Marie-Claire Strawbridge’s arrival as Antitrust and National Security partner in London. Lang’s arrival also follows Morrison Foerster’s launch and opening of its new Amsterdam office in January 2025.
