Morrison Foerster Partner Adam R. Brausa Honored with Advokids Jan Sherwood Advocate of The Year Award
Advokids has selected Adam as the recipient of the Jan Sherwood Advocate of the Year Award. Founded in 1993, Advokids is the only statewide nonprofit legal advocacy organization dedicated to securing the safety and well-being of children in the foster care system. In the last year, Advokids served over a thousand children, 75% of whom were under the age of five.
Adam is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on patent litigation. Adam is also a longtime pro bono volunteer with Advokids, where he uses his legal skills to benefit children in the foster care system.
In a San Francisco Family Court case referred by Advokids last year, a team led by Adam successfully represented the maternal aunt of two foster children in securing a judgment that recognized her as the de facto parent. This decision, secured after a full evidentiary hearing, allowed the children to remain in her care and enabled her to continue pursuing permanency instead of forcing the children to endure yet another move, another placement, and additional trauma.
MoFo is thrilled to celebrate Adam’s achievement and dedication to Advokids.
