AVCJ Awards 2024 Deal of the Year to Morrison Foerster
Asian Venture Capital Journal (AVCJ) has recognized the acquisition of Jinjer by Japan’s J-Star and Australia’s Potentia Capital as its 2024 Deal of the Year – Mid Cap. Jinjer is a leader in Japan’s human resources software-as-a-service space, offering modules covering attendance and timekeeping, payroll, and expense management. Increased adoption of cloud-based systems has contributed to private equity buyout activity and the deal featured significant co-investments from limited partners on both sides. MoFo represented Tybourne Capital Management on the seller side in the transaction that closed in September 2024.
The MoFo deal team that advised Tybourne Capital Management on the Jinjer acquisition deal was led by Asia co-head of Private Equity and Tokyo partner Nozomi Oda and Tokyo of counsel Takaki Sato.
In addition, AVCJ shortlisted MoFo in the Deal of the Year – Large Cap category for its representation of Ascendent Capital Partners in its $1.66 billion acquisition of Hollysys, a leading automation control system solutions provider in China. The transaction was completed in July 2024.
The awards were announced at the 24th AVCJ Private Equity & Venture Capital Awards on November 18, 2024, during AVCJ’s annual flagship Private Equity Forum, the most influential and largest gathering of private equity and venture professionals in Asia.
