Carrie H. Cohen spoke to Law360 about the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams and how the high-profile nature of the case may impact prosecutors.
While high-profile public corruption cases can be career boosters for prosecutors, Carrie dismissed the notion that prosecutors pursue these types of cases for the optics or the professional glory. She said that chasing headlines is especially rare in a place like the Southern District of New York, which is not a “career prosecutor’s office.”
“A lot of the prosecutors have had private sector jobs before they went to the office. And then they get private sector jobs when they leave, because they are excellent lawyers,” Carrie added.
