MoFo Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month
Each year, MoFo Celebrates National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) which is observed annually in October and is dedicated to celebrating the contributions of people living with disabilities in the workforce, and to promoting inclusive employment practices. The national theme for 2024 is “Access to Good Jobs for All” and seeks to confirm the commitment of ensuring disabled workers have access to good jobs, every month of every year.
In recognition of National Disability Awareness Month, The Morrison & Foerster Foundation will be making $5,000 grants to each the following organizations: Able ARTS Work, Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund, Disability Rights Legal Center, and Nassau Suffolk Services for Autism.
In addition, we are pleased to present the following special event in celebration of NDEAM:
On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, we will host a conversation with partner and co-chair of MoFo’s Appellate and Supreme Court practice Joe Palmore and retired Judge David Tatel as they discuss Judge Tatel’s career as a Senior Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and his advocacy for disability rights. Known for his rigorous legal analysis and commitment to justice, Judge Tatel has authored opinions on a broad spectrum of issues and is a prominent advocate for disability rights. Despite losing his sight mid-career, he has continued to influence the legal community, advocating for accessibility and inclusion, and serving as a source of inspiration through his dedication and leadership.
At MoFo, we recognize the important role that people living with disabilities play in a diverse and inclusive workforce and we believe that respect for our people, their ideas, and their differences makes us stronger colleagues and advisors.
