Washington, D.C. associate Whitney Lee has been named on the National Black Lawyers: Top 40 Under 40 list for 2024. This is the third consecutive year that she has been featured on this list, which honors the top African American attorneys, ages 40 and under, across the United States.
Whitney Lee is an associate in the firm’s Privacy + Data Security and Crisis Management Groups. Her practice focuses on advising clients on significant cybersecurity incidents and other sensitive matters relating to U.S. domestic and international cybercrime, national security, and risk and crisis management, including matters that involve multijurisdictional investigations, congressional oversight, and significant media attention. Whitney has substantial experience managing third-party forensic and internal investigations, e-discovery efforts, and communications with relevant regulatory agencies and impacted stakeholders.
In 2024, Whitney was named to Law 360’s 2024 Cybersecurity & Privacy Editorial Board. In 2023, Whitney received the American Bar Association’s On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers Award. In 2021, Whitney was featured in Bloomberg Law’s They’ve Got Next series as a Rising Star in Privacy and Cybersecurity. In addition to her practice, Whitney runs CYREIN, a pro bono consulting and educational service for cyberstalking victims. She founded the organization in 2018, following her graduation from Columbia Law School, to address the uptick in spyware and the proliferation of home surveillance used by stalkers and domestic abusers.
The National Black Lawyers (NBL) is a professional development and networking association comprised of the top African American lawyers from across the country. The honorees on the Top 40 Under 40 list are selected after a rigorous nomination and vetting process. Current members of the NBL nominate fellow attorneys who are evaluated based on a variety of factors, including notable achievements, settlements, and verdicts as a lawyer, and demonstrated leadership in other national and state specialty lawyer organizations.
