Edward Imperatore spoke to Bloomberg News about the outcome of USA v. Hwang, in which Archegos Capital Management founder Bill Hwang was found guilty of criminal charges stemming from his firm’s 2021 collapse. Edward stated that Hwang and former Archegos chief financial officer Patrick Halligan, who was also found guilty of racketeering and defrauding Archegos counterparties, are likely to appeal their convictions.
“It’s a murky area of the law,” he said, adding that he doubted the men would be able to overturn their convictions despite viable arguments concerning the definition of market manipulation.
