Morrison Foerster has been named Japan International Law Advisers of the Year at the Chambers Asia-Pacific and Greater China Region Awards 2024. This marks the 10th year that MoFo has been named in this category since the award was created in 2011, reflecting MoFo’s position as the leading international firm in Japan.
The award follows the extraordinary success of MoFo’s Tokyo team in the latest edition of Chambers Asia-Pacific, where the firm was ranked in 11 practice areas, achieving more top-tier recognitions than any other international firm in Japan. MoFo Tokyo has attracted significant praise from clients, who laud the team as “probably the most experienced firm in Japan.” One client concluded, “I’ve worked with many top-tier firms, and none has been as consistently responsive and impressive as Morrison Foerster.”
MoFo Tokyo achieved 5 Band 1 rankings in the latest edition, including in Japan: Corporate/M&A: International; Japan: Dispute Resolution: International; Japan: Intellectual Property: International; Japan: Real Estate; and Japan: Technology, Media, Telecoms (TMT). MoFo is the only international law firm ranked Band 1 for M&A in Japan by both Chambers Asia-Pacific and Chambers Global.
As one of the preeminent law firms in Asia, MoFo provides integrated local and international law advice. The Tokyo office is one of the largest international firms in Japan, with approximately 50 U.S. attorneys, 50 Japanese bengoshi, and 5 attorneys qualified in England & Wales, who team with the firm’s global network to advise on Japan’s most significant inbound and outbound transactions, investigations, and disputes.
The Chambers Awards recognize law firms’ preeminence in key jurisdictions in specific regions. They also reflect achievements over the past 12 months, including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth, and excellence in client service. The Chambers recognition is among a number of recent honors received by MoFo Tokyo, including recently being shortlisted for 14 awards at Asian Legal Business (ALB)’s Japan Law Awards 2024.
