Purvi G. Patel Named Top 100 Lawyer by Los Angeles Business Journal for 2024
Purvi G. Patel has been named one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Los Angeles by the Los Angeles Business Journal for 2024. The annual list spotlights the Los Angeles legal community, highlighting the Top 100 Lawyers for their legal achievements, community involvement, and impact on the profession.
Purvi, who recently served as the managing partner of MoFo’s Los Angeles office, has a defined niche that cuts across Morrison Foerster’s Class Actions + Mass Torts and Privacy + Data Security Groups, operating effectively at the intersection of privacy, consumer products and services, and emerging technology. Purvi is a skilled and experienced class action and privacy litigator, as demonstrated by her vast experience handling class action litigation across industry sectors and the United States, and the significant victories she has secured for clients.
Outside of her client-facing practice, Purvi is a recognized leader at MoFo. She co-chairs the firm’s Diversity Strategy Committee, returning to the role for a second time after previously serving as co-chair for five years. During her tenure, among other successes, the firm achieved Mansfield Certification Plus five times, implemented an LGBTQ+ Gender Inclusive Policy, created a billable hour credit policy for diversity and inclusion work, and launched MoFo’s innovative Allies Network. In addition, Purvi served as hiring partner for the Los Angeles office between 2015 and 2023.
In addition to being a leader at MoFo, Purvi is actively engaged in her local and professional communities. In 2019, she was a founding board member of Legal Education Access Pipeline, a fellows program dedicated to increasing access to legal education for underrepresented populations, and served as the first president of its board of directors. She has also been working with Just the Beginning – A Pipeline Organization since 2015 when she joined an inaugural steering committee of judges, in-house and outside counsel, and educators to launch its Los Angeles-based Summer Legal Institute. Purvi is a past co-president of the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California (SABA-SC) and was named SABA-SC’s 2019 Mentor of the Year. In 2023, SABA-SC honored Purvi with its Trailblazer Award, selecting Purvi for her “trailblazing efforts which have paved the way for a more inclusive and representative profession” and “her commitment to breaking barriers in the legal profession.”
