Paul McKenzie Named as One of China’s Top 15 Cybersecurity & Data Protection Lawyers by Asian Legal Business 2024
Paul McKenzie, partner in Morrison Foerster’s Beijing and Singapore offices, has been honored by Asian Legal Business (ALB) on its 2024 list of China’s Top 15 Cybersecurity & Data Protection Lawyers. ALB’s annual list highlights the leading lawyers in China who are “playing an increasingly indispensable role” providing “high-quality legal services for their customers’ diversified cybersecurity and data protection needs.”
Paul has more than 30 years’ experience advising international businesses investing in or doing business in China, with an important aspect of his work involving guidance to clients on data and cyber security issues and other regulatory compliance matters in China. He is a member of MoFo’s market-leading Global Privacy + Data Security Group and part of a team that advises clients on China’s evolving regulatory framework governing data privacy and security. Paul’s data and cyber security practice covers a wide range of issues, including lawful grounds for processing personal data, data localization and cross-border transfer rules, systems compliance, network security, and use of encryption technologies. As a transactional lawyer, Paul is regularly called upon to provide strategic advice in the context of deals relating to the licensing, sharing, and handling of data. Paul is a frequent speaker and writer on privacy and data security legal topics, especially China-related issues.
