James Koukios spoke to Anti-Corruption Report about the $661 million settlement that Swiss-based Gunvor paid to resolve an investigation into Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations related to its dealings with Ecuadorian oil company, Petroecuador.
James spoke to Florida’s involvement in the case, noting that “so many FCPA cases involve illicit meetings in South Florida, laundering of funds through bank accounts in South Florida, or spending proceeds of FCPA violations in South Florida. This case has at least the former two.”
