MoFo’s Fintech Practice Named Fintech Group of the Year 2023 by Law360

Law360 has selected Morrison Foerster’s Fintech team as a 2023 Fintech Group of the Year, highlighting their work helping clients launch digital banking products and services, negotiate strategic partnerships, acquisitions, and financings, and manage critical investigations and cybersecurity incidents. This recognition honors the law firms behind major deals, cutting-edge regulatory advice, investigative support, and litigation wins that resonated throughout the legal industry in the past year.

In particular, MoFo’s Fintech Group was recognized for its large cryptocurrency recovery for finance group Euler Labs. After an attacker stole over $200 million in various cryptocurrencies from Euler, MoFo helped to fully recover the stolen assets for the client.

When recognizing the efforts of the team representing Euler, Jeff Silberman praised the MoFo Fintech Group for its sophistication and ability to quickly and effectively “figure out what happened, how to stop it from happening again and, most importantly, how to advocate on the client’s behalf, negotiate and ultimately get the assets back.”

MoFo’s Fintech team was also recognized for its expertise in helping clients meet consumer demand for online and app-based financial services. For example, Crystal Kaldjob and Jeremy Mandell worked with credit-reporting agency Experian to bring its full-service digital banking solution to the marketplace. Crystal noted, “Experian is unique in the sense that it already has a pretty successful business being a consumer-reporting agency. Leveraging its brand to offer this digital banking solution was a natural extension to capture their customer market.”

MoFo advised firm client OpenAI on its strategic partnerships with Morgan Stanley and payments service provider Stripe. “It's been a really rewarding experience to take our deep understanding of the client, OpenAI, and our deep understanding of the sectors of financial services, wealth management and investment advisory work and create what is new and innovative in the market,” said Jeremy.
