Marie-Claire Strawbridge recently spoke with Global Competition Review about the UK government’s proposals to review the scope of the National Security and Investment Act, which allows the government to scrutinise foreign investment.
The National Security and Investment Act enables the government to review and intervene in acquisitions and takeovers across 17 different sectors and industries that could harm the UK’s national security.
Speaking to Global Competition Review about the timing of the consultation, Marie-Claire “questioned the timing of the call for evidence in light of the upcoming UK general election next year,” but also noted that “foreign investment rules require a review of the regime within three years of its implementation, so this consultation isn’t entirely surprising.”
