Haima Marlier Named Among New York Law Journal’s 2023 Diversity Initiative Honorees
Haima Marlier, a Partner in Morrison Foerster’s New York office, has been named among New York Law Journal’s 2023 Diversity Initiative honorees. The award recognizes lawyers who have made a significant contribution to progressing diversity and inclusion efforts in New York’s legal community.
Haima is global co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s Securities Litigation, Enforcement, and White Collar Defense Group and a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. She also serves as co‑chair of the firm’s Diversity Strategy Committee. As part of her work on diversity initiatives, Haima helped create an Associate Mentoring Program to focus on the retention and promotion of associates from historically underrepresented backgrounds. She also devotes time to Morrison Foerster’s sponsorship initiative, which identifies high-performing associates for potential promotion to partnership. Haima has also served on the firm’s New York Hiring Committee, working to expand the hiring of first-generation students from non-elite schools. Additionally, Haima founded and sponsors the firm’s New York Women Attorneys of Color Affinity Group, a group dedicated to fostering networking opportunities for women lawyers of color.
Outside of Morrison Foerster, Haima mentors undergraduate students of color who aspire to go to law school at her alma mater, The Pennsylvania State University. She also serves on the Board of Directors of, and is a volunteer coach for, Girls on the Run New Jersey, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring girls to recognize their inner physical and emotional strength. Haima also serves on the Board of Trustees of the SEC Historical Society, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the history of financial regulation, focusing her fundraising efforts on the history of D&I at the SEC. She is active in the South Asian Bar Association of North America and served as a founding member of its amicus committee.
The honorees will be recognized during the New York Legal Awards on October 2, 2023.
