Chuan Sun Named as One of China’s Top 15 Cybersecurity & Data Protection Lawyers by Asian Legal Business 2023

Chuan Sun, partner in Morrison Foerster’s Shanghai and Beijing offices, has been honored by Asian Legal Business (ALB) on its 2023 list of China’s Top 15 Cybersecurity & Data Protection Lawyers. On its inaugural list, ALB highlights the leading cybersecurity & data protection lawyers in China who are “playing an increasingly indispensable role” providing “high-quality legal services for their customers’ diversified cybersecurity and data protection needs.”

Chuan focuses his practice on cross-border M&A transactions; sophisticated technology, media, and telecommunications (TMT) and life sciences transactions; and complex data security, data privacy, as well as IP/commercial matters across Greater China. With 19 years of experience in both Asia and the United States, Chuan regularly advises multinational corporations, state-owned enterprises, private companies, and private equity and venture capital firms on complex cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and business separation transactions. Chuan also has significant experience in strategic corporate, commercial, and technology transactions, including outsourcing, manufacturing, distribution, supply, and franchising arrangements, and IP licensing arrangements across multiple industries. His regulatory experience includes telecommunications, e-commerce, internet, data security, data privacy, fintech, and cloud computing, as well as telematics.

This recognition is the latest in a series of honors that Chuan has received from leading legal directories. He was recently ranked for TMT: Information Technology (International Firms) by Chambers and Partners and named a Leading Lawyer for TMT: Foreign Firms by The Legal 500. Chuan was also previously named on ALB’s 2020 list of China’s Top 15 TMT Lawyers.
