Haima Marlier, co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s Securities Litigation, Enforcement, and White-Collar Defense Group, has been named as one of the Notable Women in Law in Crain’s New York Business’s 2023 edition. The recognition profiles top law professionals who have been chosen “not only for their skills and accomplishments in the courtroom, but for their leadership outside of it.”
Drawing on her experience as a former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Senior Trial Counsel, Haima represents companies and individuals in cutting-edge SEC, CFTC, and FINRA investigations; internal investigations; and securities litigation. She has deep expertise in cybersecurity, crypto, insider trading, revenue recognition, disclosure, and market manipulation issues. She has extensive experience litigating in federal, state, and administrative courts, leading complex negotiations, and representing her clients in mediation.
Haima serves on the firm’s Board of Directors and as co-chair of the firm’s Diversity Strategy Committee, where she focuses on the retention and promotion of diverse associates. She helped create an AAPI associate mentoring program to develop diverse attorneys and combat attrition and is the founder and a sponsor of the New York Women Attorneys of Color Group, which fosters networking and business development opportunities for women associates of color. She also served on the New York office Hiring Committee, where she focused on broadening the hiring pool to include high performing, first-generation law students from non-elite schools. She also maintains an active pro bono practice.
Outside the firm, Haima serves on the Board of Trustees of the SEC Historical Society, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the knowledge and history of financial regulation; mentors Penn State students of color who aspire to become lawyers; and is a member of the Board of Directors of, and a volunteer running coach for, Girls on the Run New Jersey, a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring girls to recognize their inner physical and emotional strength.
