Purvi G. Patel honored with the Trailblazer award by the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California
Purvi G. Patel, managing partner of Morrison Foerster’s Los Angeles office, has been honored by the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California (SABA-SC) with its Trailblazer award. She was selected for her “trailblazing efforts which have paved the way for a more inclusive and representative profession” and “her commitment to breaking barriers in the legal profession.”
Purvi has built a robust practice advising household-name companies on various compliance issues and defending them in complex and class action litigation in federal and state courts across the country. With a defined niche that cuts across MoFo’s Class Actions + Mass Torts and Privacy + Data Security groups, she operates effectively at the intersection of privacy, consumer products and services, and emerging technology. Purvi has notched significant victories for clients, including defeating class certification and securing summary judgment in some of the most plaintiff-friendly jurisdictions nationwide, and securing several walkaways for industry-leading companies in high-stakes cases involving multimillion-dollar demands.
Purvi also co-chaired the firm’s Diversity Strategy Committee for five years and remains an active member of the Committee. During her tenure, among other successes, the firm achieved Mansfield Certification Plus five times, implemented an LGBTQ+ Gender Inclusive Policy, created a billable hour credit policy for Diversity and Inclusion work, and launched MoFo’s innovative Allies Network. Purvi was past co-president of SABA-SC, previously served on the Executive and Public Interest Foundation boards, and was named SABA‑SC’s 2019 Mentor of the Year.
SABA-SC is dedicated to the advancement and development of South Asian attorneys as well as attorneys interested in issues affecting the South Asian community. Purvi was honored at SABA-SC’s 18th Annual Gala hosted at the DoubleTree by Hilton, 120 S. Los Angeles St., on Thursday, May 25.
