Shai Kalansky Named One of San Diego’s Nonprofit Board Leaders of Influence by the San Diego Business Journal
Shai Kalansky, a transactional partner, has been honored by the San Diego Business Journal on its 2023 list of the Top 50 Nonprofit Leaders of Influence in San Diego. The inaugural award aims to acknowledge the contribution and commitment of nonprofit board leaders in the San Diego business community.
Shai’s recognition is based in part on his extensive involvement in the Jewish community throughout his life. His work in San Diego with the Jewish Community Foundation (JCF) started over six years ago when he joined its Board of Directors and participated on the Finance Committee. Shai is currently chair of the JCF’s Impact Investing Committee.
He played a pivotal role in JCF becoming the first Jewish community foundation to offer an Impact Investment Pool option that allows individuals to apply Jewish values to investments that support environmental and social impact while earning a competitive financial return. In his role, Shai recommends investments in specific projects supporting affordable housing, economic development, and women’s empowerment. Investments by JCF donors have supported numerous San Diego area nonprofit organizations.
Shai advises clients on impact investing, social enterprise, M&A, and ESG-related matters. Shai’s recent high-impact work includes advising Generate Capital, a leading sustainable infrastructure and investment company, in connection with its $2 billion fundraise; and advising Xpansiv Limited, a market-infrastructure platform for global carbon and environmental commodities, on over $520 million in capital raising to fuel continued growth in its service offerings to rapidly scale the world’s energy transition.
