Alex Lawrence spoke to Law.com about the U.S. Supreme Court’s oral arguments in Gonzalez v. Google, which focused on section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and questions whether tech sites are liable for the acts of terrorists who used their platforms.
“Section 230 is politically fraught, no doubt about it, but it really didn’t seem like there was an ideological division that you might find on other issues,” Alex said. “I didn’t recognize that. They all seemed to be struggling to try to figure out, if we were to draw lines, what exactly it would look like, and what the limiting principle would be. When you start drawing lines, it’s exceedingly difficult.”
