Tim is managing partner of Morrison & Foerster’s Hong Kong office. He is also head of the firm’s Hong Kong Litigation Department. Paul has more than 30 years’ experience advising leading international companies on complex transactional and other business law matters in China and elsewhere in Asia.He advises Fortune 100 and other global companies pursuing M&A, joint venture, and other corporate transactions, bringing to his work a deep understanding of the regulatory environment in China and a sensitivity to cultural issues in Asia. Paul also helps clients navigate China’s complex and changing regulatory environment, advising on a broad range of issues such as data privacy and security, industry permitting, and anti-corruption compliance. Paul is a member of the firm’s market-leading global privacy and data security group and a recognized expert on China’s emerging data regulatory regime. He works across a broad range of industries, including information technology, real estate, chemicals and energy, and natural resources.Paul is a fluent Mandarin speaker and has written widely on issues related to Chinese law.He serves on the board of directors of The Morrison & Foerster Foundation, the firm’s charitable foundation.

Paul McKenzie

Partner

Stephen has practiced in Hong Kong for over 25 years and specializes in capital markets advisory and transactional matters, regulatory issues, and mergers and acquisitions transactions. His experience includes advising on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Listing Rules, including numerous IPOs, and the Hong Kong Takeovers Code, as well as corporate and securities law and regulations generally. This includes advising clients on SFC licensing issues for intermediaries, non-contentious employment matters, and general commercial transactions.Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Stephen served for three years as Senior Director of Corporate Finance with the Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong. Before that, he was a partner and Head of Corporate Finance in a leading international firm in Hong Kong. He was a member of the Hong Kong Government Standing Committee on Company Law Reform from 2011 until the end of his six-year tenure.Stephen is a frequent speaker at conferences on Hong Kong securities legal issues and has authored chapters on the Hong Kong Takeovers Code and Listing Rules in the popular “Practitioner’s Guide” series.Stephen is fluent in French and Spanish.

Gary’s practice focuses on investigation and dispute resolution matters for multinational and Asia-based companies. Gary has extensive experience in investigating allegations of corruption, fraud, conflict of interest, and other business misconduct in various industries including IT, finance, medical products, real estate, and manufacturing. He frequently assists multinational investors in pre-investment anti-corruption due diligence reviews of investments in China and other jurisdictions, as well as regulatory risk assessments of China business operations.   Gary also advises multinational companies in negotiating and litigating China-related business disputes. His experience includes assisting clients in connection with disputes arising out of Sino-foreign joint ventures, private antitrust enforcement, intellectual property, complex commercial contracts, and other business matters. In addition, he has extensive experience in assisting multinational companies in coordinating responses to Chinese regulatory inquiries.Gary is a Registered Foreign Lawyer with the Law Society of Hong Kong.
