(September 29, 2022) – Morrison Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce the arrival of Brian Radigan as a partner in the firm’s U.S. Federal Tax Group and Global Tax Department. Radigan brings to Morrison Foerster 17 years of sophisticated in-house and law firm experience in international tax transactions and transactional tax work, including M&A, structuring cross-border multinational arrangements, non-controlling investments in startups, and a wide array of structured capital markets transactions.
Radigan joins Morrison Foerster from New Fortress Energy, where he served as the global head of tax. In this leadership role, he built a robust global tax team which operated under an internal tax law firm model with the internal tax function serving the role of outside tax advisor; he also served as a trusted advisor to the company’s top executives and board. During his tenure at the company, among other key initiatives, Radigan reengineered its corporate and tax structure to significantly increase tax efficiencies, and negotiated many investments, financings, and acquisitions, including two simultaneous multibillion-dollar merger transactions.
Prior to this most recent role, Radigan spent seven years at GE Capital, working in the company’s in-house tax department, renowned for its sophisticated internal tax law firm model, where he structured and negotiated many of GE Capital’s billion-dollar transactions. Prior to GE, he worked for seven years at a leading global law firm, where he advised clients on a wide range of matters, including structuring sovereign wealth fund investments in the United States, cross-border capital markets issuances, M&A transactions, and tax matters in bankruptcy.
“Brian brings to the firm an impressive background, including a decade of in-house experience at two prominent global companies, together with invaluable law firm experience,” said Morrison Foerster Global Tax Department Chair Anthony Carbone. “Brian’s robust and versatile tax experience, including his in-depth knowledge of cross-border tax transactions and planning, not only strengthens our global tax offerings, but also nicely complements our corporate transactional practices, particularly our M&A practice, making him an exceptional addition to the Global Tax team and the firm.”
“Morrison Foerster is an exceptional firm with tremendous tax and global corporate transactional and M&A capabilities,” said Radigan. “I look forward to working with my new colleagues and leveraging my broad and technical tax skillset and my previous in-house experience to help our clients in the U.S. and around the globe, navigate their most sophisticated, multidimensional, tax-focused business challenges.”
Radigan earned his B.A. in mathematics from Yale University and his J.D. from Harvard University. He is admitted to practice in New York.
