He Spent Nearly 30 Years in Prison for a Murder He Didn’t Commit. A California Judge Just Dismissed the Case, Called Investigation ‘Outrageous'

Jim Bennett spoke to The Mercury News about Solano County Superior Court Judge Carlos Gutierrez's decision to dismiss all charges against Morrison & Foerster pro bono client Bob Fenenbock, who spent 28 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of murder.

According to Jim, the actual killer in this case admitted his deed and told authorities that Mr. Fenenbock was not involved, with the evidence against him largely based on the world of a nine-year-old boy, who later claimed that he had been coerced into providing false statements.

"The only way (police) could get a witness to this murder was with manufactured testimony," Jim said. "They told him, 'If you don't stick to this story these guys will come and hurt your family.'"
