Morrison & Foerster has been named the Japan International Law Advisers of the Year as part of the Chambers Asia Pacific Awards 2020. This marks the eighth year since the award was created in 2011 that Morrison & Foerster has been named the top international firm in Japan.
Reflecting the firm’s notable achievements over the past 12 months, including outstanding work, impressive strategic growth, and excellence in client service, Morrison & Foerster received 11 practice area rakings and 23 individual recognitions in Japan in the 2020 edition of Chambers Asia Pacific. This is in addition to an impressive showing in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific this year, in which we secured nine practice area rankings and 47 individual rankings. Notably, nine lawyers within the firm’s Tokyo office were included in Legal 500’s inaugural Hall of Fame for Asia Pacific.
As noted by Chambers, the firm’s Tokyo office is “. . . singled out for its prowess handling high-end and cross-border transactions and disputes and is well known for its leading local and international expertise across multiple practice areas. The firm’s formidable offering ranges from bank lending and debt and equity capital markets through to real estate, intellectual property, projects and energy.” Speaking to our client service, one source expressed: “Morrison & Foerster lawyers are business savvy and stand out in terms of their expertise, proactivity in raising issues and reliability when working to tight deadlines.”
As the largest international firm in Japan, we have over 60 Japanese bengoshi and 60 U.S. attorneys who team with the firm’s global network to advise on Japan’s most significant inbound and outbound transactions, investigations, and disputes. Our lawyers are the go-to advisors for Japan’s leading industrial, technology, and telecommunications companies, including SoftBank, Hitachi, Fujitsu, and Toshiba.
