Janie Schulman spoke to SHRM about what employers should regarding Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) medical certifications in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
“It is difficult to predict with precision what kind of challenges businesses will face with so much of the workforce working remotely,” Janie said. “It will probably be challenging for [smaller companies] to handle FMLA requests from afar. Remember that really small companies are not covered by FMLA.”
