Morrison & Foerster advised SoftBank in connection with a financing round totaling $100 million in Mexican fintech company Konfio. This marks SoftBank’s third investment in the country since the company announced its Latin America fund in March.
Founded in 2013, Konfio is an online lending platform that helps micro-businesses in Latin America obtain affordable loans. The company says it will use the funds to expand working-capital loans and introduce new products.
The MoFo team was led out of Miami by corporate partner Randy Bullard, co-chair of the firm’s Latin America Desk, and included partner Juan Delgado and associates Julia Danforth and Axel Miranda. Support was also provided by New York tax partner Anthony Carbone and associate Katherine Erbeznik.
