James Koukios, Sophie Barnett, and Diana Cummiskey authored an article for Law360 discussing the Foreign Extortion Prevention Act (FEPA) and the impact companies and individuals could face if it becomes law in the United States.
“The FEPA would make it a crime for foreign officials to solicit or receive a bribe from any person or company in the U.S.,” the authors wrote. “Violators could be punished by up to 15 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 or three times the value of the bribe.”
