On April 9, 2024, join Rachel Fiorill, Partner in Morrison Foerster’s National Security practice and former Enforcement Section Chief of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), at the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists’ (ACAMS) “The Assembly Hollywood,” where she will be speaking at two sessions.
Rachel will be participating in a session titled “DEEP DIVE – Onshore Institutions in an Offshore World: Managing Risks in Administering Funds Abroad,” alongside Kerri Bent, Americas Head of Sanctions at UBS, and Jeff Kruszewski, Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at U.S. Bank. David Clark, Senior Financial Crime SME & Change Manager at ING Bank, will lead the discussion to cover questions such as how to manage indirect investor risk in regulated and unregulated funds and how to navigate sanctions risks posed by fund administration.
Rachel will also be speaking at a session titled “DEEP DIVE – North Korea’s Illicit Finance: Sanctions Evasion and Abuse of Cryptoasset Platforms,” where she will be joined by David Lee, Global Sanctions Officer for Circle Internet Financial, and Alex O’Neill, National Security Researcher and Co-founder and Former Co-lead of the North Korea Cyber Working Group. Moderated by Alex Zerden, Former U.S. Treasury Department Official and Founder of Capitol Peak Strategies LLC, this session will discuss how North Korea (DPRK) has repeatedly abused the international financial system and how regulators and law enforcement can work with their counterparts to put a stop to it.
