This seminar will discuss the practical landscape of patent damages, including: available monetary and equitable remedies; damages contentions and a trend toward early disclosure of damages theories; and decision trees and pivotal moments in litigation to consider pretrial resolution.<hr>

John Lanham is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. John focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation and commercial litigation. John brings his broad-based business litigation experience to bear on his clients’ most challenging disputes.John has worked in both the San Diego and Denver offices of Morrison Foerster. He has represented clients in the pharmaceutical, financial, communications, information technology, natural resources, and healthcare industries. John regularly assists clients with all phases of litigation, including development of case strategy, dispositive motions, claim construction, fact discovery, expert discovery, trial preparation, alternative dispute resolution, and taking and defending the depositions of both fact and expert witnesses.John frequently works with scientific and economic experts to develop accurate and persuasive case theories for his clients. He also maintains an active pro bono practice focused on children’s rights and constitutional issues. John is currently the President of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association.John received his J.D. cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law. While at Northwestern, John served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Joan Humphrey Lefkow of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and as an associate editor of the Northwestern University Law Review. John received his B.A. magna cum laude with distinction from The Colorado College. At Colorado College, John was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and received the Clyde Agustus Duniway history prize and the Robert J. Cosgrove Research Fellowship.

Soo Park is an associate in the firm’s Litigation Group and focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation.Soo has litigated patent and trade secret cases involving a wide range of technologies, including medical devices, computer software, mobile apps, and video streaming. Soo has also represented companies in complex commercial litigation disputes. Soo has experience in all phases of litigation from pleadings through trial. She has handled all aspects of discovery, taken and defended depositions, drafted dispositive motions, and participated in trial preparation.Soo is committed to pro bono service and diversity in the legal profession. She has been awarded the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate for Pro Bono Legal Services by the State Bar of California in 2015–2019 and currently serves as a member of the Inner City Law Center’s Pro Bono Council. She is a part of the firm’s Associate Committee and diversity initiatives and has been a co-chair of Los Angeles Women’s Group since 2015.Soo received her J.D. from the University of Chicago, where she served as president of the Chicago Law Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports law students who devote their summers to working in the public interest. While in pursuit of her J.D., she received the Ann Watson Barber Outstanding Service Award. Prior to law school, Soo was a Teach for America corps member and taught reading and writing at a public middle school in New Orleans. She received her B.A. from the University of Chicago, with honors in comparative literature.Before joining the firm, Soo was a legal intern at the Orleans Public Defenders and was a student member of the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Project at the Edwin F. Mandel Legal Aid Clinic.Soo is fluent in Korean.
