We invite you to listen to the recording of Morrison Foerster’s panel discussion exploring the intersection of Cybersecurity and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, and how companies can manage enterprise risk.
Increasingly, cybersecurity is viewed not just as a technology issue, but also as a social and governance issue that must be evaluated as a critical part of an organization’s ESG strategy. With increasing requests for data to measure the compliance of certain ESG metrics from diverse stakeholders and across their supply chains, companies’ data sharing needs are increasing, signaling a need for caution and increased board scrutiny. Similarly, ESG now requires looking beyond the single materiality approach to double materiality, as companies are now required to report on risk and compliance. Consequently, the panel discussed the manifestations of ESG considerations in cybersecurity and how companies can prepare for upcoming regulations.
In recognition of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the panel addressed the interplay between cybersecurity and ESG factors, including the importance of promoting cyber resilience across a business, integrating cybersecurity considerations into broader supply chain risk management programs, and ensuring appropriate executive accountability and board oversight.
