Carrie H. Cohen Analyzes the Intersection of State and Federal Law Regarding Sentencing
Carrie H. Cohen, a former state and federal prosecutor, is serving as a faculty member for a CLE program hosted by the New York State-Federal Judicial Council and the Second Circuit Judicial Council regarding the intersection of state and federal law regarding sentencing. Alongside prominent judges, attorneys serving in the public sector, and fellow defense practitioners, the session will provide an overview of state and federal sentencing regimes, the impact of prior offenses on sentencing, concurrent and consecutive sentencing for state and federal convictions, sealing issues for sentencing submissions, immigration consequences for state and federal conviction, and ethical issues in state and federal sentencing.
Carrie is co-lead of Morrison & Foerster’s State + Local Government Enforcement group and recently authored guidance on the mechanics of a complex public corruption investigation for the National Association of Attorneys General’s Anticorruption Manual, which is the first-ever manual dedicated to guiding state and local public corruption prosecutors initiating or managing a corruption investigation.
