Alexander advises clients on a broad range of EU and German regulatory issues. His practice focuses on foreign trade law, government contracts, and EU state aid law, as well as on general regulatory law compliance for industry and technology clients. Recent matters particularly involve compliance with economic sanctions and the control of foreign direct investments, regulatory law due diligence, and advice to clients during public tender proceedings and on competition law issues. His industry experience comprises, among others, banking and financial services, (tele)communications, media and digital service providers, critical technologies such as semiconductors, and transport.
Alexander studied law at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and King’s College, London (LL.M.). Prior to joining Morrison Foerster, he worked as a research assistant at three renowned international law firms in the fields of antitrust and state aid and on regulatory matters. During his legal clerkship, he worked in the public procurement department of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy as well as the Federal German Embassy in Nairobi. Alexander also acted as managing director of a nonprofit organization in the educational sector.
