New York (June 4, 2007) – Morrison & Foerster LLP announced today that Anna Pinedo, partner in the firm’s Capital Markets group in the New York office, has received a prestigious Burton Award for Legal Achievement. She was recognized for her article, titled “Next Generation Hybrid Securities,” which appeared in the May 2006issue of Wall Street Lawyer.
The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement, which began in 2000, honor “partners in law firms and law school students who use plain, clear and concise language and avoid archaic, stilted legalese.” This year, 30 individuals were selected by the Burton awards committee from hundreds of applications submitted by the largest 1,000 law firms in the nation.
“We are extremely proud that Anna has been recognized with this significant award,” said Morrison & Foerster Chair Keith Wetmore. “Clients appreciate Anna’s experience, drive and creative thinking in the structuring of complex financial products. Her ability to write on the subject in a clear and concise manner further showcases her knowledge of the marketplace.”
The awards, sponsored by the Burton Foundation – a volunteer not-for-profit, academic organization concentrating on legal writing – were presented on June 4th in Washington, D.C
“I am honored to receive this award,” said Ms. Pinedo. “The hybrid securities market is increasing in importance and sophistication and my ability to write about it in a clear, knowledgeable style is of value to our clients, who truly are leading the way in this area.”
