Yukihiro Terazawa is a partner in Ito & Mitomi. He concentrates his practice on hi-tech, e-commerce and IP transactions, entertainment and general corporate matters including corporate compliance risk management, M&A, antitrust and unfair competition matters, and international/domestic litigation, including IP litigation.
He serves as a adjunct professor of film production at the Graduate School of Film Producing in Japan where he provide lecture regarding Japanese film financing and Hollywood Film Producing Practice. He is a frequent lecturer on intellectual property rights, e-commerce, privacy (protection of personal information), and entertainment law to the Dai-ni Tokyo Bar Association, graduate universities, and specialized training colleges related to image studies. He is a Deputy Chairman of the Dai-ni Tokyo Bar Association’s Study Group of Intellectual Properties.
He was appointed recently to two advisory positions with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (“MIAC”) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry ("METI"). He will serve on the committee addressing “Dispute Resolution Board for Telecommunication Business Entities” as a mediator at MIAC and serve as a panel on a workshop for building a standard process system in animation creation at METI.
He is also a co-author of various IP and entertainment law-related books, such as "Intellectual Property Rights Dictionary" (published by Sanseido, 2001) "Development of Japanese IT Legislation" (published by Daini Tokyo Bar Association, Intellectual Property Law Study Group, 2001), "IT Kigyo Homu 2003 (IT Corporation Law 2003)" (published by IMS, 2003), "Intellectual Property and Law relating Information Technology" (Nikkan Kogyo Shinbun, 2004) and "Entertainment and the Law" (Shoji Homu, 2005) and Legal Guide for International Intellectual Property Dispute Resolution (Seirin Shoin 2006).
He received his LL.B. in 1989 from Keio University Faculty of Law, and his LL.M. in 1999 from University of Washington School of Law. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, he was a partner of O’Melveny & Myers LLP. He is qualified to practice in Japan and New York, and is a member of Dai-ni Tokyo Bar Association.
