The European employment team integrates the skills and services of solicitors, barristers and human resources professionals
to provide comprehensive advice on all areas of employment and employment related law. Areas covered include service agreements
and standard contracts of employment; contractual documentation such as handbooks and manuals; employee benefits, including
pensions and share options; foreign employees and executive immigration; anti-discrimination and equality; review and rationalisation
of employment systems and practices; corporate and group change, including public sector employment and privatisation, tendering
and outsourcing; trade union law; directors’ and employees’ fiduciary and confidentiality duties; employee intellectual property
considerations; and professional and City regulatory proceedings.
We also have capabilities in contentious employment matters, advising on matters before all courts and employment tribunals.
However, we recognise that litigation can be costly and time consuming so where possible we work to provide preventive lawyering.
We look at early intervention and dispute avoidance and informal in-house mediation and we also have expertise in formal mediation,
arbitration and ADR. The employment team works to support other specialist teams within our international network of nineteen
offices, providing advice on the employment aspects of corporate and commercial transactions such as acquisitions, disposals,
joint ventures and outsourcings. Regarding outsourcings, we have extensive experience and expertise in advising both customers
and suppliers on all human resources issues involved in sourcing transactions such as the impact of TUPE and obligations relating
to consulting with employees.
