David Skinner is a partner in the firm's London office and a member of the Technology Transactions Group and the Global Sourcing Group.

Mr. Skinner is a commercial lawyer with a particular interest in transactions with substantial systems, business process, technology and intellectual property content and any issues that relate to pricing and service levels.  He advises on a wide range of commercial and legal issues, including strategy, change management, outsourcing and in-sourcing of IT systems/software and business processes, business transformation, systems integration, the financial services regulations for technology transactions, software licensing, data protection, e-commerce and internet-related transactions.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Skinner was a partner in the London office of Shaw Pittman.  He studied History at Oxford University and completed a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law & Practice at Bristol University in 1996.  He qualified in 1995 and began his career with Wilde Sapte before moving to Bird & Bird in 1997.  Mr. Skinner writes articles and speaks regularly at conferences on technology issues, primarily in relation to technology and outsourcing.

  • Advising Amadeus Global Travel Distribution S.A. to create a new common IT platform for the Star Alliance group of airlines.
  • Advising Pearl Group Limited, the closed life insurer, on the outsourcing of payment execution services.
  • Advising Royal & SunAlliance in outsourcing its general insurance claims handling and ADM IT support to Accenture India.
