Chris Coulter is a partner in the firm's London office and a member of the Technology Transactions Group and the Global Sourcing Group.

Mr. Coulter has over fifteen years of experience as a commercial lawyer, with a particular focus on transactions involving users and suppliers of technology and technology-enabled services, including outsourcing and procurement, services provision, systems development and software licensing. In addition, he advises on data protection/privacy, e-commerce and the IP/IT aspects of M&A transactions and joint ventures. Mr. Coulter also advises on content licensing, on-line data services and electronic publishing.

Mr. Coulter’s recent transactions include advising Reuters on its procurement of global Internet services from Equant; advising the UK’s passport supplier in connection with the British Government’s biometric passport project; and advising on a number of European and international technology procurement and outsourcing projects.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Coulter was a partner in the London office of Ashurst. He read Jurisprudence at Oxford University and qualified as a solicitor in 1992. Mr. Coulter writes articles and speaks regularly at conferences on technology issues, primarily in relation to technology and outsourcing. He is the author of the E-commerce volume of Butterworths Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents and the IT contracts section of Sweet & Maxwell's Practical Commercial Precedents. He is admitted to practice in England & Wales.
