J. Edward Li is a partner based in the firm's Hong Kong office. Mr. Li’s practice focuses on corporate and financial transactions, particularly security offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity investments. In his securities practice, Mr. Li has represented issuers and underwriters in a wide variety of public and private offerings of equity, debt, and equity-linked securities, involving companies based in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and other Asian countries. Mr. Li has particular experience in working with companies in industries such as mining, telecommunication, banking, manufacturing, shipping, electricity, semiconductor, software and Internet.

Mr. Li received a J.D. degree, with distinction, from Stanford Law School and a Ph.D. degree in Economics from Stanford University, both in 1994.  Mr. Li has an undergraduate degree from the University of Science and Technologies of China. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Li was the Chief Executive Officer of NAISA Systems, Inc., a San Jose California-based software company with substantial operations in China.  From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Li practiced law in New York specializing in security offerings and other corporate matters.

Mr. Li is a member of the Bar in New York and is fluent in English and Chinese.  He is a frequent speaker and writer on U.S., Hong Kong and China corporate and securities law issues.
