Professional Summary



Thomas Chou is a partner of the worldwide partnership of Morrison & Foerster LLP and resident in the firm's Hong Kong office. Mr. Chou leads the Asia-Pacific private equity practice in Hong Kong. He also has an active cross-border mergers and acquisitions practice, and advises on joint ventures and strategic alliances.

Mr. Chou’s clients include global private equity and venture capital investors, such as Goldman Sachs, Merrill Lynch and Lehman Brothers, and middle market and emerging growth companies in the internet, media, retail, consumer, communications, semiconductor, healthcare and cleantech industries.

From January 2002 until December 2003, he served as President and Director of Asia Silicon Valley Connection (ASVC), a non-profit organization that promotes entrepreneurial initiatives in Asia and Silicon Valley. Mr. Chou frequently speaks on current topics in private equity, venture capital and mergers and acquisitions for organizations such as the American Bar Association, Asia America MultiTechnology Association, China Venture Capital Association and Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association. Thomas received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995, his Certificate of Completion at the China University of Political Science and Law (Chinese Law Program) in 1996, and his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School (formerly known Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College) in 1998.
