Description:

Licensing Executives Society Silicon Valley Chapter

Drafting and negotiating complex license agreements requires an understanding of both the science underlying the licensed technology and the desired legal parameters of the license grant. David Wilson, a transactional IP attorney, and Catherine Polizzi, a patent prosecutor, frequently team up to represent venture capital-backed companies licensing, enabling technologies from universities and other corporations. They will discuss various key points of intersection between science and law in license agreements and how their respective areas of expertise complement each other in addressing these issues. In addition, they will discuss several different business models for licensing relationships, and the scientific and legal pressure points created by those models.
