Description:
Employees entering the workforce today are part of the first generation (labeled by demographers as “Millennials”) for whom
the Internet, Blackberries, iPods, blogging, YouTube, eBay, Skype, FaceBook and MySpace, play a key part in their lives. In-house
counsel and HR professionals can add significant value to their companies by understanding the emerging legal and management
challenges arising from the Millennials’ use of personal and workplace technology, and inter-generational tensions between
Millennials and older workers.
This seminar will review emerging legislative and case law developments in this area, and will discuss policies and practices
designed to minimize legal exposures resulting from today’s multi-generational workforce.
Takeaways:
- Minimizing risks of age discrimination or generational conflict
- Setting expectations as to employee privacy
- Training employees about limits on blogging
- Addressing “cyberslacking” (overuse of workplace technology for personal purposes)
- Setting boundaries regarding the use of personal technology for work purposes
- Minimizing electronic discovery issues in litigation
- Fostering a culture of data security to decrease loss of trade secrets or data breaches
This seminar will also be held in the following locations:
Palo Alto, CA
McLean, VA
San Diego
San Francisco
