Description:

The European Union (EU) now comprises 27 Member States and almost 500 million citizens. Its Member States account for the world’s largest gross domestic product, and are an important trading partner to every other major country. In theory, then, the EU is one market. In practice, of course, it’s not so simple. Each of those 27 countries has its own set of laws and regulations and, for the most part, in the technology sector the central EU lawmakers in Brussels have not directly super-imposed laws across the entire market.

Please join us for an introductory briefing on the maze that is EU law and regulation. The session is designed as a primer for non EU-based technology companies who may be unfamiliar with the EU legal regime and will also serve as a refresher for all those who have to navigate around the mass of laws and regulations that exist across the EU.

The presentation will be full of practical examples and tips to doing business in Europe and all delegates will receive a useful reference guide to the relevant legislation.
The briefing will be presented by Chris Coulter, a partner in Morrison & Foerster's London office. Mr. Coulter has over fifteen years of experience as a commercial lawyer in Europe, with a particular focus on transactions involving technology and intellectual property. He advises on matters such as outsourcing and procurement; systems development; and licensing. In addition, Mr. Coulter advises on digital rights exploitation; e-commerce; privacy and data security; as well as the IP/IT aspects of M&A transactions and joint ventures.

There is no charge to attend this seminar.
