Cynthia Rich is a senior international policy analyst in the Washington office of Morrison & Foerster LLP. As a member of the firm’s international Privacy and Data Security Practice, Ms. Rich advises clients on legal issues relating to privacy and transborder data transfers around the world. In particular, she assists clients in complying with applicable privacy laws and regulations and advocating for sensible privacy laws around the world.
Ms. Rich was a Senior Editor to ‘Employee Privacy: Guide to U.S. and International Law.’ which has been published in two versions by A S Pratt & Sons and Thompson Publishing in September 2007.
Previously, Ms. Rich served for five years as a senior international policy advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where she worked to develop the groundbreaking safe harbor privacy arrangement that allows U.S. organizations to satisfy the European Privacy Directive’s adequacy requirements and ensure that their data flows to the United States are not interrupted.
Ms. Rich received a B.A. from Wesleyan University and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs.
