Jonathan S. Dickstein is co-chair of Morrison & Foerster's Life Sciences Group. His practice concentrates on representing life science companies in licensing, strategic collaborations and other intellectual property-related business transactions.

He has represented a variety of biotechnology, medical device and pharmaceutical companies on a broad range of transactions, including inbound and outbound licensing, drug discovery and development deals, joint research and development collaborations, manufacture and supply arrangements, distribution and reseller relationships, co-marketing agreements, outsourcing projects, strategic joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Dickstein served as Vice President, Business Development and Legal Affairs, and as a member of the Board of Directors of DoubleTwist, Inc. (formerly Pangea Systems), a bioinformatics software company. He began practicing at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton in New York in 1994 and joined Morrison & Foerster LLP in January 1999.



Representative Matters
  • Represented Astellas Pharma Inc. in its $815 million collaboration and license agreement with San Francisco-based FibroGen, Inc. for the exclusive rights to develop and market anaemia therapies FG-2216 and FG 4592 in Europe, the Middle East, and South Africa.
  • Represented Immunomedics Inc. in its worldwide collaboration and licensing agreement with Brussels-based UCB for Immunomedics’ leading product, epratuzumab.
  • Represent Tanox, Inc. in connection with negotiation of a three way collaboration with Novarits and Genentech for Xolair and other anti-IgE products.
  • Represented GlaxoSmithKline in the divestiture of its wholly-owned California drug discovery business, Affymax Research Institute.
  • Represented Kirin Brewery Company's pharmaceutical division in several different research, development and marketing collaborations with United States biotechnology companies.
  • Represented Chiron Corp. in the negotiation of development and manufacturing agreements for inhaleable antibiotic products with Nektar Therapeutics.
