Mr. Delaney has concentrated his practice on high-technology and intellectual property matters. He has advised clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to early-stage start-ups on a wide range of technology law issues, including complex outsourcing transactions, software development and licensing agreements, content licenses, online and offline distribution agreements and joint venture relationships. Mr. Delaney has also counseled clients on copyright, trademark and other intellectual property issues, including cutting-edge digital rights issues. His practice involves working with clients to protect their intellectual property rights and to minimize potential liabilities in connection with his clients' development, distribution or use of technology.

Mr. Delaney has substantial experience in advising companies on issues such as privacy and data security; advertising; digital signatures and electronic contracts; open source; domain names; online downloading and streaming; video games and other digital entertainment; copyright and trademark registration; unfair competition; trade secrets; contests and sweepstakes law; and auctions. He also represents clients in disputes involving technology-related matters.

Mr. Delaney is a frequent lecturer and author on legal issues in the technology law field, and has been quoted in publications such as Newsweek, Advertising Age and The Wall Street Journal on emerging intellectual property law issues. He has appeared on the cover of the American Lawyer as one of the 'lawyers for the new economy' and on the cover of New York Lawyer as one of 'fifteen lawyers 40 and under shaping the law for the 21st Century.' Crain's New York Business included him in its 'Technology 100,' a list of individuals 'likely to shape the direction and growth of New York's economy for years to come.' He is ranked by Chambers USA as one of America's leading business lawyers (recommended in 'IT and IT Outsourcing') and by Chambers Global as one of the world's leading lawyers (recommended in 'Communications/Technology'). Mr. Delaney has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the area of 'Cyber Law,' and he is 'highly recommended' by Global Counsel 3000 in the field of 'IT and eCommerce.'   • Represented a music industry client in developing and implementing its online licensing system.
  • Advised a client in connection with a data security investigation initiated by the Federal Trade Commission; investigation was subsequently abandoned by the FTC.
  • Negotiated IT sourcing transactions on behalf of numerous clients, including a major financial services company.
  • Conducted a copyright audit on behalf of one of America's largest companies and advised company on strengthening its copyright management practices.
  • Worked on the team that represented Fujitsu Ltd. In its landmark software copyright arbitration with IBM.
