Rachel Krevans’ practice has focused in two areas: patent litigation and related proceedings, and fiduciary litigation. Her patent controversy practice includes district court, International Trade Commission, and appellate experience, prelitigation and licensing strategy analysis, as well as experience in related proceedings, such as reexamination requests, interference proceedings, and interference appeals. Her cases have involved a variety of life sciences and electrical engineering technologies. Ms. Krevans has designed, or supervised the design of, numerous litigation support and damage study databases, and computer programs related thereto.
Ms. Krevans' fiduciary litigation practice builds on her experience in Morrison & Foerster's tax department from 1985-1989. As a tax lawyer, she focused on ERISA and executive compensation issues and nonprofit organizations. She has extensive experience counseling fiduciaries in both general and litigation-related matters and has represented fiduciaries in government investigations and court proceedings.
Ms. Krevans is an officer and the head of the MPC Insurance, Ltd., Risk Management Committee, a member-owned professional services insurer. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Economic Forum, and of Stiles Hall, a non-profit that works with the University of California to provide mentors and tutors to public schools in the San Francisco Bay Area. Ms. Krevans was recently appointed Co-Chair on Patent Litigation for the Sedona Conference Institute.
Chambers & Partners and PLC Which?Lawyer current rankings recommend Ms. Krevans as a leading IP lawyer. In Chambers’ 2007 write-up, the publication noted she is “one of the most thorough, calculating and technically astute IP lawyers around.” In 2006, Chambers commented “the powerful scientific mind of Rachel Krevans has impressed clients in the life sciences industry.” The California Lawyer honored her in 2008 with the prestigious “California Lawyer of the Year” award in the IP category. The San Francisco and Los Angeles Daily Journal selected Ms. Krevans as one of the "Top Women Litigators in California" in 2005, 2006, and 2008. She is listed as one of Northern California’s Super Lawyers in Intellectual Property Litigation, and she is among the ten women attorneys named as the Bay Area’s Most Influential Women in Business by the San Francisco Business Times in 2005 and 2006.
